NEW DELHI: At the Makar Gate of Parliament, tensions between Congress and BJP MPs erupted once more as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra warned BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, “yeh mere saath mat kariyo (don’t do this with me)”. Sarangi, a former member of the IAS, ambushed Priyanka and gave her a tote with the words “Genocide of Sikhs” prominently displayed on it. This was a reference to the 1984 Sikh slaughter, which the Rajiv Gandhi government has been held accountable for.
As both MPs were entering the Lok Sabha, the incident took place. In what was clearly a well-thought-out move, Sarangi gave Priyanka the bag. The Wayanad Congress MP thanked Sarangi and accepted the unexpected “gift” from a rival politician. The ‘Genocide’ message, however, caused her attitude to shift. Other Members of Parliament were drawn to the exchange because it was full of political symbolism.
On Friday, Trinamool member Derek O’Brien asserted that chairman Dhankhar spoke for “nearly 30%” of the upper House’s winter session and questioned whether he had established a “new record” in Parliament.

The exchange, charged with political symbolism, caught the attention of fellow

In the meantime, Trinamool member Derek O’Brien questioned whether Chairman Dhankhar had established a “new record” in Parliament on Friday, claiming that he talked for “nearly 30%” of the upper House’s winter session.
